Text prediction reaches Notepad with Windows 10 20H1: type faster
A few months ago, we learned that the notebook was going add support for new lines, so Linux and Macs are displayed, plus small enhancements such as Ctrl + Backspace support to clear the previous word. With Updated May, 2019, a very subtle function has also been added, showing a asterisk in front of the file name in case there are changes without saving.
Microsoft has not yet announced the feature, but users with the most recent versions of 20H1 They are already receiving this upgrade on their computers. This kind of predictive text It is something that we usually have in the mobile, where it becomes almost essential to write faster. However, under Windows, this was not necessary until now, but Microsoft thinks so.
So when we write in the notebook, words appear to the right of the cursor. If this word is the one we want to put, we give the tabulator to write it. In fact, we can write whole sentences by following this method, which basically aims to help us write quickly. This can be useful when writing long and complex words, as it usually happens on the mobile. For example, when I write on my cellphone "independently", I just put "independent" as a suggestion and I do not save the writing.

It will take another year to use the function
Unfortunately, the engine of this feature needs to be further refined, as the forecasts are still at an early stage and their accuracy needs to be improved. Although those who use a physical keyboard find this feature useful for writing long words, those who will benefit most are those who have tablets with Windows 10, like the surface, and often use the touch screen keyboard instead of a keyboard cover.
For the moment, it is not known if this function will be included in general level in the system or if it 's something exclusive that the laptop will have. If it's added at the system level, this can be a great addition to improve productivity when writing in programs such as Word or in the browser. Developing this function only for Notepad would not make much sense.
In order to test the function without being an insider, we will have to wait at least a year, when Microsoft will launch Windows Update May 10, 2020 if we stick to the new changes of dates and names that the company uses.
