Even if the third generation of Google Pixel sales have fallen behindit is obvious that the company will launch another generation of Pixel phones later this year. Fourth-generation pixels are still shrouded in mystery, but a new leak The courtesy of OnLeaks reveals some details. One thing we can say for sure is that Pixel 4 will have a huge camera hump.
In recent years, Google has done everything for Pixel phones to take the best photos. They do it with a modest hardware compared to many other smartphones. They only have a rear camera when Samsung, OnePlus and others use two, three or even four rear cameras. Based on the new leak, the Pixel 4 will have a large square camera similar to the Mate 20 Pro.
We can not see in the rendering how many cameras are in the square, but I bet it will be at least two conventional image sensors. There may also be a time of flight sensor (ToF) and a flash or other combination of elements to fill the space.
There is something else unusual at the back of the phone: there is no fingerprint sensor. It could mean one of two things. Either the fingerprint sensor is moved under the screen, such as the OnePlus 7 Pro or the Galaxy S10, or there is no fingerprint sensor. We know that Android Q will include support for secure unlocking of faces in 3D, but would Google accept an Apple solution with Pixel 4 and abandon the fingerprint sensor? Well, it did not happen on the Pixel 3 XL, it was a good idea, so yes, it's possible.
The rendering shows only one speaker (the listener). Thus, the Pixel 4 will probably change the current configuration to two speakers. The lower speaker and speaker handsets can still provide stereo sound similar to Samsung phones. It will not be as good as having two speakers in front, though.
Google has probably changed the configuration of the speakers to make room for more screen, but this rendering does not help to clarify things. The outline of the screen is not included here. All OnLeak renderings are based on filtered CAD files, which usually do not have a screen. There will probably be more leaks during the summer. Last year, the Pixel 3 XL prototypes presented for sale months before the announcement.
