One of the bomb ads during Presentation of Marvel's Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con tonight was that the studio would be restarting Bladewith True detective and Luke Cage the actor Mahershala Ali should play.
The character was one of Marvel's first superheroes to become a remarkable success as a film: Blade was released in 1998, with Wesley Snipes in the role of vampire hunter incumbent, role he would take over in 2002 to Blade IIand in 2004 for Blade: Trinidad. Wonder redeemed the rights to the character, as well as Ghost Rider and the Punisher in 2013. Marvel brought Ghost Rider (who had been a pair of movies with Nicholas Cage), and the Punisher (two other films), for SHIELD agentsand his Netflix superhero franchise, starting with Daredevil respectively.
Marvel has not revealed any additional details on Blade's return, nor on his form. At this point, it could be a series for Disney + or a feature film. There is certainly a lot of possibilities for both in the years to come.
The the character is born Eric Brooksand is half human, half vampire. I appeared in the comics in 1973 in The tomb of Dracula n ° 10and after saving a man from the vampires, turned to them.
Something that the studio will have to understand at one point is how to reconcile Ali's role as Blade and as Cornell's "Cottonmouth" Stokes of From Netflix Luke Cage series, which is technically part of the Marvel Film Universe (although vaguely, given the tenuous connections between franchises). By the way, he was also the voice of Uncle Aaron Miles Morales in Sony Spider-Man: Towards the Spider-Verse. He is certainly no stranger to superheroes.
