This morning, Apple announced that Best Buy now offers authorized repairs of its products in each of the retailer's stores. This offers consumers an important alternative to their nearest Apple Store – if any – for a service on an iPhone or Mac. The repairs are made with original Apple parts and are fully supported by the company, as if Apple had done the work itself.
It has been some time since Best Buy has made repairs to Apple in many places, but the completed expansion brings that number to nearly 1,000 stores. "Best Buy's Geek Squad has nearly 7,600 recently certified Apple technicians, ready to repair an iPhone the same day or repair other Apple products," Apple said in a press release. There are Best Buy stores in neighborhoods where Apple may not be present. So it's a good option. Most Best Buy stores have Apple storefront sections with iOS, MacBooks, HomePod and other company products.
In its own stores, Apple has recently lobbied for speed up keyboard repairs for its MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro notebooks, promising a turnaround the next day in many cases. It is unclear whether Best Buy has also started replacing the third-generation butterfly keypad with the revamped version of 2019.
For his iPhone screen replacements the same day, Best Buy recommends customers make an appointment and deposit their device before 18:00 local time. Assuming the necessary parts are in stock, you will get your phone back that day or simply browse through the store until the repair is complete.
